Counselors Eligibility

Project Counselors Eligibility and Support

Project Counselor positions are open each year for persons who will assist the trainees in understanding the scientific and technical concepts to which they will be exposed, and to evaluate both the trainees and the program. The Project Counselors will reside with the trainees and assist in curriculum administration, transportation, student activities and counseling. They will be involved with the implementation of the program and provide guidance to trainees on laboratory projects, as well as written and oral reports. They will also act as resident assistants where the students are housed. Project Counselors are provided lodging, meals and a salary for their involvement.

Project Counselor applicants must be U.S. citizens or resident aliens.

M.S. or Ph.D. preferred

Counselors will work with the students in the laboratory. The ability to work with and communicate with undergraduates is highly recommended.

Valid U.S. Drivers' License
Counselors will be provided with passenger vans. They will be responsible for transporting students to and from the Space Center on a daily basis. They will also rotate on-call evenings when they take students to local shopping and entertainment.

Must be available one week before and one week after session
Counselors arrive approximately the first week of June. This allows them to work with the scientists in preparation for student arrival. They also stay approximately one week after student departure for program closeout and program evaluation sessions.
